Old Business

Letter to PSU President Steen: The letter sent expressing Commission concerns was reviewed and edited. Mrs. Whitmore moved, seconded by Mrs. Cocchiaro, to approve the letter as amended for distribution. Motion passed. A copy will be sent to the Board of Selectmen, the Planning Board, Pemi River Local Advisory Committee, and DES Commissioner Burack.

New Business

Mr. Snelling gave a brief overview of the Lakes Region Planning Commission, explaining that they are supported by town funding, the state, and grants. They provide technical support to communities, discuss and offer guidance on regional issues, and advocate local issues at the state legislature. A survey has been developed to identify community high priority issues and how the LRPC can support communities in addressing those issues. He would like each land use board to complete one survey as a group, and then combine those surveys into one from the town. The members will review the survey and discuss at the April meeting.

The NH Water Primer Workshop was postponed due to weather.

Mr. Spencer will schedule a winter open house for 3/29/09.

The Commission briefly discussed the three articles on the Town Warrant pertaining to conservation. Town Meeting is March 11.

The Commission was in full agreement to recommend Ms. Connelly as a full member to the Board of Selectmen. New members are needed.

Georgene Fabian is initiating the formation of a committee for the town’s 250th anniversary. She is requesting suggestions for activities for the event to be sponsored by the commission.

The Selectmen will host an informational presentation by representatives from PSU on the Ice Arena project on March 30, 2009 at 6:30 P.M. at Town Hall.

“Saving Special Places” conference will take place on April 4 at the Guilford High School.

Other Business

The Commission gathered around computers to review both the Conservation web site and the Town web site. They learned how to best utilize the ‘maps on-line’ portion for review of applications which might impact wetlands and the Shoreland. It was agreed that the public computer should be available during meetings for review of properties.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 5:31 P.M.

Respectfully Submitted,

Wendy J. Huff
