Road Agent Presentation
Mr. Furmanick reported that he uses approximately 3 yards of salt on the19 miles of paved roads plowed by the town. He mixes a quarter yard of salt with 8 yards of sand to keep it from freezing. There is very little impact on the lake waters from town plowing. He also noted that not every storm requires the use of salt.
Permits & Other Correspondence
Marden Point Road, Tax Map 102 Lot 244: septic system replacement in kind
Shields: current application for a variance to the ZBA for a walkway connection between the existing house and a new house; the existing house will be converted into a year-round guest house
Cooper: septic application and boundary line adjustment
Holland – campground: currently before the ZBA and if approved will need a site plan review; there may be steep slopes involved necessitating review by the Commission
Plymouth State University project: Mr. Lorch reviewed the project explaining that the entire project was in the floodplain but is exempt from local regulations. The use of artificial turf may affect the aquifer recharge and increase run-off to the river.
Intent-to-Cut applications: It was agreed that information about the total estimate to be cut as well as the location would be helpful to the Commission to determine if they need to be involved. Mr. Lorch also stated that the would review the list more regularly and do inspections earlier during the cut as needed.
Proposed articles for use of conservation funds will be forwarded to Walter Johnson, Town Administrator.
Mr. Lorch noted that the Planning Board will be starting ordinance review earlier in the year in 2009 and other town committees will be asked for suggestions. Mrs. Whitmore suggested protection of vernal pools and a lighting ordinance.
Ms. Packard and Mrs. Whitmore urged Commission members to attend a Planning Work Session to develop Commission goals for 2009 on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 4:00 P.M. at Town Hall.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 4:40 P.M.
